With global warming and accelerated animal extinction threatening the world as we know it, we all have a duty to take care of our environment. I just can’t justify using non-ecological beauty products whereby they make me look great whilst destroying the world around me. This is why I have made a conscious decision to look for eco-friendly products. As an individual, I can’t change the world but if we all unite, together we can.

I was introduced to Emily Alexandra Cosmetics whose founder Emily is known as the American Mermaid. She is a professional diver and ocean conservationist as well as a keen fundraiser for providing clean water to Third World nations. She found it really difficult to source beauty products that complemented her social conscience. So she founded her own company to provide vegan, sustainable, cruelty-free and ocean-safe beauty products.

Although she founded it quite recently, Emily Alexandra Cosmetics has already made an impact into the beauty industry. It clearly shows that I am not the only one who is becoming more socially aware when choosing beauty products. Whilst her product range is limited for now, she is expanding the range gradually as each product must meet her stringent quality and environmental criteria.
